What you Should Know About the OCSA Audition Process and OCSA Prep Instruction
Many students need to prepare for 6 months or more for the audition process if they have had minimal art instruction beforehand. Not every student gets accepted the first time. That's not unusual. I'm happy to have many of my private students for 3-4 years as I teach them beginning fundamentals to advanced techniques such as figure drawing, character design, etc.
The Elements of Art are line, form, shape, value, color, space and texture along with other foundations required for successful drawing and painting. Many of the public schools have eliminated structured art programs teaching these fundamentals from the curriculum which leaves many students ill-prepared for going into the creative arts or auditioning/applying to art program/schools.
Once the application assignments are sent out by OSCA...usually in October every year, I assist the students with time management, feedback, goals, knowledge of how to go from idea concept to execution, etc for completing the audition assignments on time with success. Teaching students how to successfully go from concept to implementation and meeting deadlines, is a great skill to learn and implement to be successful in any field.
I'm not only an art instructor. I'm a mentor. I encourage my students in instructing them in having a good work ethic, good character, how to have a great, team attitude and going above and beyond in anything they do to help them achieve their life-long goals.
I offer online classes at $60/hour.
In-person classes at my home or studio space at $60/hour

100% of my OCSA prep students have been accepted into the lottery which is the highest I can take them and a number of my students are now students in OCSA conservatories. My program is very successful.
